2021 Recap: My Year in Photos

Dec 30, 2021

Are blog recaps still a thing? Is it just for social media now? Either way, I've decided to keep this tradition on my blog. Many years ago, when I spent lots of online time searching for blogs to follow, I found a blog that shared weekly photo diary posts. I loved seeing that person's moments of significance through weekly snapshots. I suppose Instagram is a now a rendition of this! But those posts were a huge influence for me creating this blog so it holds dear to my heart. Anyway, that's my long explanation for this yearly photo diary/recap! I hope you enjoy the slightly new format.

January, February, March, April: 2021 was the year Ian and I decided to become homeowners. We discussed it for two years prior, starting preparing one year prior, and January was when the hunt truly began. The last photo in this collage is a photo I took during a home inspection. This home eventually became ours. But, before all that, we tried to make the most of apartment life! The other photos are some fun products and corners of the last apartment we'd ever live in.

May, June, July, August: The first photo is the last photo I took by those gorgeous huge windows in the apartment. We moved to the house in May and life was unexpectedly scarier than I thought. I was suffering with intense anxiety with the move, likely because I never lived anywhere aside from NYC in my entire life! As the months went on, I grew into my home. I started my first garden, finished furnishing my office, and launched The Conscious Root.

September, October, November, December: The final months of the year are always the best. They are reserved for comfort, tradition, and festivities. For my birthday, Ian brought home the most delicious vegan ramen from a spot in Brooklyn. Spooky season included Ian's birthday, seeing the original Scream (my fav movie ever) in theaters, pumpkin picking, and Halloween festivities with true crime games and good food. We headed back to the mountains in November. December marked my ten-year anniversary with Ian.

What a year it has been. What a year of uncertainties, manifestations, and calls for celebration. We end this year in solitude for reasons bigger than our individual selves. But it's been a memorable one, for sure. See ya in 2022!
