Things I Tried + Loved | August 2021 Edition

Sep 3, 2021

Welcome to BEST months of the year (in my humble opinion)! I'm so ready for September. I'm so ready for all the spooky, autumnal, cozy vibe things. It should come as no surprise that this is where I peak lmao. This is my time.

August was a particularly chaotic month for me. I spent every week working hard on my new blog launch (which was this week if you missed it!). Whew, it was a lot. And you might be surprised to know that creating the content was the most difficult part of the process. Here's the thing. Blog writing is still writing and if you're not in the headspace to write, it feels like the most impossible thing to do. That's where I was... in the month where I needed to launch a blog. Ah, the timing is just comedy. But I pushed through best I could and though I'm a little disappointed in the amount of posts I generated before launch, I know that the hardest part is over and my creative flow will likely return as we move into my favorite months.

Anyway, enough of that. Let's talk about what I actually tried and loved during this past month!

What to expect: Mini (no BS) reviews of products/experiences, affiliate links, and discounts.

And with that, let's get started with August's favorites!

august 2021 favorites links product recommendations
jason voorhees garden gnome | I don't know what compelled me to get a garden gnome but I really just wanted one lol. Of course, I couldn't go the traditional route! This Etsy find is so fun and cute, especially for horror fans!

autumn decor @ homesense | If you're looking for great autumn decor and you're looking for it sooner rather than later, then you have to check out homesense! They have tons of options already available - I picked up a haul myself.

hanging rod for mugs | Coffee bars are a hugely popular home trend right now! It's a cute way to display your coffee stash and it's honestly convenient, too. I got this hanging rod to display mugs without taking up extra counter space.

sticker backsplash tiles | This budget-friendly backsplash option worked out SO WELL. Everyone is in love with our beautiful kitchen upgrade and it cost less than $75.
tomato cutting hack | I spotted this on TikTok but I can't recall who originally shared it. The hack is to cut your tomato in half width-wise, then slowly squeeze out the excess water and seeds inside. This gives you the best part of the tomato without all the watery mush.

homemade tomato sauce | Okay, I had no idea how easy it was to make homemade tomato sauce! All you do is roast some tomatoes, cook onions and garlic, add seasonings, then blend everything together! Mindblowing.
other things.
friday the 13th game | This video game came out years ago but lost traction due to server issues and lagging. It has since updated and now plays even better than before! It's such a fun team effort to escape Jason Voorhees's killing spree. Also super nostalgic. Give it a try!

2-story rabbit house | This is for a very specific audience lol but if you're looking for a comfortable living space for your pet rabbit, you've got to get this house! It's spacious enough for a litter box and lots of play space. My rabbit loves chilling upstairs during the day.

night of the mannequins by stephen graham jones | My first completed read since 2020! This novella is super short and super fun. Lots of teen summer vibes, an unreliable narrator, and murder-in-a-small-town feel.

That's all the recs for this month - let me know if you're picking up anything mentioned here! And if you have specific items you'd like me to test/link, feel free to send a message and I'll work that out for you. See you in September!
